| We are an academic based organization established in 2002, which provides academic assistance for our members. Our mission is to offer a wide variety of resources not limited to, but including one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, review sessions, study guides, and mock midterms.
In addition to helping academically, we help members to find volunteer and community service. We also encourage them to participate in social and fundraising events with AAMS. How are we different from other medical clubs on campus? We focus most of our efforts toward academics rather than helping you decide your career path. We do, however, answer questions about various professions. How do I become a member? Becoming a member is quite simple. The requirements for membership are: 1) to attend at least three meetings a quarter 2) join us in one social event 3) and participate in at least one club activity. Unlike many other clubs on campus, we do not charge any membership fees. What are committees? Committees are various subcategories within our organization that focuses on the different needs of our organization. If you are creative, wanting to get involved, or looking to have lots fun and meet new people, then you are more than welcome to join one or several of our various committees listen below. -Academic Committee: Having trouble in classes or want to help the troubled in their classes? If you are looking for help, just turn to our academic committee for assistance. The academic committee offers one-on-one tutoring as well as review sessions and study groups. If you want to assist fellow undergraduate UCR students, you are encouraged to also help tutor and prepare mock exams. -Professional Committee: Still trying to answer that question, “What do I wanna be when I grow up?” Wondering what the use of all that stuff you learned in class comes into use? The professional committee can provide you with information about various careers and give you an idea where to apply all that knowledge in the real world. -Publicity Committee: Good news is worth spreading, and, likewise, so is our club. The growth of AAMS depends on the publicity committee for publicity and advertisement. They design, create, and maintain flyers, the web pages, newspaper ads, newsletters, posters, and much more. If you have a creative side, then the publicity committe needs you! -Fundraising Committee: Money does not grow on trees, but we can plant and sell those trees to get it. We at AAMS realize that there is no such thing as a free lunch. Our fundraising committee plans creative fundraising events by which the whole club can enjoy working together to earn that needed cash. -External Affairs Committee: Want to be more involved with the world outside of UCR? Join our external affairs committee and get familiar with the rest of Riverside and the Inland Empire. External affairs committee finds volunteer and community service opportunities in the community as well as meeting professionals and finding guest speakers for our organization. |
