Mick's SX-4
It's not a Kammback, but I just had to add these! And,
since Mick does have a Kammback, he's forgiven! These pictures were taken
at Moab, Utah. Here is the text from the e-mail that Mick sent me.
Mick here, I went to Moab for the Safari with my 81 SX-4, and
proceeded to conquer every famous obstacle I pointed the car at. I have Lock
Rights front and rear, Swamper TSL's, a rear traction bar to stop wheel hop, on
board air, a hatch rack with a fullsize spare (if you can call a 29" tire
fullsize), and I carry a spare c.v. shaft. I piloted the car up Dump Bump twice,
Potato Salad Hill twice, ran Poison Spider Mesa (4), Golden Spike (4+), Gold Bar
Rim (3 1/2 +), Fins-n-Things (3 1/2), and 3-D (3 and very boring). I had a blast
watching people point and laugh when I'd pull up to the hill or the bump, and
then watch their jaws drop when a CAR went right up the very same thing a Scout
on 44's, or a Rubicon failed to make it.
Oh yeah, I made the whole week long affair with NO BODY
DAMAGE.
I had to ask him why he didn't take his rock crawler
Kammback, and this was the response:
I would love for you to add the SX-4 pics to your site, there
really aren't any SX-4 sites out there, and none are as good as your Kammback
site. The reason I took the little car was I wanted to show the world you don't
need 35+" tires, super flexy suspension, or massive amounts of lift. I was out
to prove a point, that the Eagle is under rated, and that driving skills will
get you just as far as the all the gadgets the magazines preach that you have to
have. I'll unleash the Kammback on them next year maybe, then again I'm building
a straight axle wagon right now that's getting DANA 44's steer axles front and
rear. I just can't stop building these things!
Now, on to the pictures.
