February 9th 2006 - I was watching Samurai Champloo yesterday and after that, I felt like drawing. I knew that I was going to draw a female kenshi (swordsman or, like in this case, swordswoman). So I drew this picture. I call her Aoi and she's most likely going to be an important character in story of Sera. I really ought to give that story a name to make it easier to refer to it.
Aoi's design is not really complicated nor really simple. I like those bandages covering her upper torso but her hair is what I really love! Her kimono-like thing is actually only a left half of a kimono so there's no right side. I doubt there's really such a garment...
Once again I drew lots of detailed patterns. I actually enjoy drawing them so there will be more clothes with complicated patterns in my future drawings. The kanji in her sword's sheath means white wind and the kanji below the yin-yang symbol means mind or heart. Thus together they mean "Balance of Mind". That's what I want them to mean...
I have thought a lot about Aoi's personality and story. I think she'll be pretty calm and not very talkative. She's in general inspired by Aoi of Real Bout High School (Possibly my favourite character in that manga) so the two will have lot of things in common.
