A film to watch out for

"Pag-Asa ng Bayan" marks another milestone for Cesar Buendia. This multitalented B82 gem writes about a simple coming-of-age story about friendship and youth and high school life. But more than that, it is a story about honesty and integrity and honor and the differences between these ideals - and why sometimes they do not go together. It dissects the ills in Philippine society, our values as a people, and why our culture has become so corrupt and dishonest. It aims to awaken the consciousness of the Filipino people as the values of honesty and integrity are slowly being obliterated in our society.

Written and directed by Cesar, the movie is a production of the Ateneo Jesuit Communications Foundation and Brave New Films Batch 2004.

Cesar is an accomplished writer, stage director, producer and talent manager. He has written for shows like Goin' Bananas, Tropang Turumpo, Baliw na Baliw, Small Brothers, Maricel Drama Specials, Love Notes, GMA Telecine, Salinggonaposila, Tanging Yaman (the series), among others. His "Mga Tawag Mula Sa Hukay", a suspenseful story about a prank phone caller who gets a dose of his own medicine and starts receiving phone calls from an unknown person (who later turns out to be dead), won at the ABS-CBN Scriptwriting Contest. "Pikit-Mulat", a risqué spoof on the culture of the Filipino Film industry, was his winning entry at the FPJ Screenwriting Competition.

He has managed the South Border and Cindy Kurleto. Among his talents today are 9th Avenue and Romeo Dower.

Cesar is currently the Executive Director of LEB Productions.
