A film to watch out for
"Pag-Asa
ng Bayan" marks another milestone for Cesar Buendia. This multitalented
B82 gem writes about a simple coming-of-age story about friendship
and youth and high school life. But more than that, it is a story
about honesty and integrity and honor and the differences between
these ideals - and why sometimes they do not go together. It dissects
the ills in Philippine society, our values as a people, and why
our culture has become so corrupt and dishonest. It aims to awaken
the consciousness of the Filipino people as the values of honesty
and integrity are slowly being obliterated in our society.
Written
and directed by Cesar, the movie is a production of the Ateneo Jesuit
Communications Foundation and Brave New Films Batch 2004.
